Motorcycle Mirror Installation Guide

Last time we talked about screw threads of motorcycle mirrors. (see Tutorial: How do I know if the mirror fits my bike?) Let me just cut the crap and introduce how to install your mirror with those screws.

Remove stock mirrors

Please check the diameter of the nut of your stock mirror to find the right size wrench.

Then loosen up the lock nut with you wrench and remove the stock mirror.

Install new mirrors

Find out what size of the mirror adapters you need as the last post we've talked about. See there's blue Loctite to help the screws and the mirrors to be connected firmly. One of the double ended screw with mark on nut is a reverse screw. So beware and check what screw you chose before installing, it'll be a hard work to take off the screw with Loctite.

Next we loosen up the nut a bit and let the middle of double ended screw out so that it's easier for us to tighten the screw with a 10 mm wrench later.

The end with Loctite goes into the hole of the mirror stem.

Noted the middle part of the screw, which you just see in the former pictures, has to be fully attached to the stem. And then we cover it up with the nut.

At this point, we got a mirror ready to be installed! The only thing has to be done is just screw the new mirrors onto your handlebar. Prepare a 14 mm wrench to tighten the nut. Beware that you have to use a reverse screw if the model of your bike has a counterclockwise left-hand thread.

After installing the mirror, we need to adjust it to the right angle so that we can get the best view. Take out your 6 mm Allen key and loosen the stem joint to adjust the height!

Adjust the angle of the glass.

Finally we made this!!

Here's the whole video of installation. Enjoy ;)
